Author: আইএসপিআর

Dhaka, October 26: In support of the steps taken by present government for conserving the mother hilsa, BAF conducted special operations by helicopters under “In Aid to Civil Power” like previous years in “Mother Hilsa Conservation Campaign-2021”. As part of the campaign, these special operations and surveillance activities were conducted by the helicopters of Bangladesh Air Force with the aim of locating the illegal hilsa fishing from the sky. The capability of the Bangladesh Air Force Helicopter’s “Night Vision Goggles (NVG) and Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR)” has made the Hilsa conservation campaign more expeditious and effective. As a result, the BAF helicopters have been able to play an effective role in this mission by conducting operations both day and night.

It is mentionable that based on the information gathered through the surveillance operations conducted by the Air Force helicopters, the law enforcing agencies were able to detain a large number of current nets, fishing boats and fishermen. The active participation of the Air Force in such activities in future as well is expected to play an important role in the conservation of mother hilsa.
