UK NAVY WARSHIP HMS KENT ARRIVED AT CHATTAGRAM PORT TO MARK BIRTH CENTENARY OF FATHER OF THE NATION AND GOLDEN JUBILEE OF INDEPENDENCE

Chattogram 14 October 2021:To commemorate the Birth Centenary of Father of the Nation and Golden Jubilee of Independence, warship HMS KENT of the Royal Navy (United Kingdom) arrived at Chattogram Port Jetty on Thursday morning (14-10-2021). Upon arrival, the ship was welcomed by Chief Staff Officer of Commander Chattagram Naval Area Captain S M Moyeen Uddin. The British Defense Adviser in Dhaka and other senior naval officials were present during the welcome ceremony. The 133-meter-long ship is commanded by Commander M J (Matt) Sykes RN is carrying 32 officers, 187 sailors and 3 civilians onboard.

 

During this friendly visit, the Commanding Officer of the visiting ship, Commander M J (Matt) Sykes RN, will call on Commander Chattagram Naval Area, Commander BN Fleet and Chairman Chattagram Port Authority. Moreover, officers and sailors of HMS KENT will visit Bangladesh Naval Academy, BNS SHAHEED MOAZZAM, War Cemetery, BN Ashar Alo School and Rehabilitation Center for Children with Special Needs, various touristic and historical sites in Chattogram. Friendly sports and cultural arrangements are also planned during the visit. This visit will pave way the historic ties and foster friendly relations between the two countries.

 

Earlier, when the ship reached the waters of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Navy ship BNS ABU BAKAR accorded traditional welcome. On completion of the visit, the ship is expected leave Chattagram port on October 18, 2021.
